May 17, 2026 - Oregon Wine Month
On May 17, 2026, the North Wake (NC) Chapter held a meeting and tasting at Heritage View Clubhouse in Wake Forest with 29 members and guests attending.
On Sunday, May 17th, 29 North Wake AWS Members and Guests enjoyed celebrating Oregon Wine Month. We tasted a variety of 7 wines under the guidance of Nate Mosser from the, Winestore Raleigh. Six of the wines were from the Willamette Valley and one (a 2022 Albariño) was from the Columbia Gorge area.
In 1970, Oregon had only 5 wineries, but today it is home to 1,076 licensed wineries, spread across five primary regions. The Willamette Valley accounts for 77% of the wine produced in the state. I’m happy to report that our 2027 National AWS Convention will be held in Portland, which sits at the northern end of the 150-mile-long Willamette Valley!
