February 23, 2025 - Reustle Prayer Rock Vineyards
On February 23, 2025, the North Wake (NC) Chapter held a meeting and tasting at Heritage View Clubhouse in Wake Forest with 33 members and guests attending.
At the meeting on February 23, 2025, we featured wines from Reustle Prayer Rock Vineyards in Roseburg, Oregon in the Umpqua Valley. Owners Stephen and Gloria Reustle presented four of their wines—one white and three reds—in a blind tasting against four European wines made from the same grapes. We tasted the Reustle 2021 Grüner Veltliner, 2022 Pinot Noir Reserve, 2022 Syrah Reserve, and 2021 Tempranillo Reserve. The Reustle wines were favored by the attendees over their European counterparts for three of the four wines. Prior to the tasting we enjoyed a “meet and greet” welcome tasting of Reustle’s lovely 2023 Grüner Veltliner.
